Adoption Fee: $7,000 firm to excellent show home.
PARR is handling the adoption process for Max to ensure he
goes to a lovely home with a good portion of his adoption fee being donated back into our program!
We are honored to have this gorgeous boy in our program. He is a total gentleman!
Trainers - Don't look him over because he is "For Adoption"
Max can be adopted as an investment horse and sold to a quality approved home in the future. We want to be sure professionals, trainers, etc know you do have that ability when adopting Max. We just have to be notified if he is ever changing ownership so we can always keep tabs on where he is and what he is up to in his new career. Max will only be adopted to someone who will 100% abide by our request. Please read our
Adoption Contract ( HERE ) for full information and details on our Adoption Agreement.
"Max" is drop dead gorgeous, quiet, talented, and fancy all balled into one big horse. He is the type that could be covered in mud and still turn heads. He never raced and was so nice we just knew he needed to find a home as a show horse! He foaled May 17, 2010 and is turning 6 this spring. Max has been with his breeder before recently coming to PARR to find a great home. Max was a favorite there and so fancy they knew he should be a show horse so he kept getting pushed aside before they really started any type of racing career. He wouldn't stop growing so he was given time to mature properly. He did get a mild bow well over a year ago that was properly rehabbed, has fully healed, and he has been cleared by his veterinarian for a career doing anything. He is 100% sound and has no issues. Could use a good few farrier sessions to work on the shape of his feet as he has been barefoot and living out. Is correct and has nice sturdy feet even
with the current frozen ground.
We hauled him over to an indoor for a video, his first ride in six months (was barefoot in video), which can be seen in the video below. He was well behaved, nice to ride, and aimed to please. Very inquisitive about the jumps and all the "hunter decor" around the jumps. Unfortunately he couldn't eat the fake plants. Max is a favorite among everyone at PARR so the most perfect of homes is very important to everyone here. We all want to take him home ourselves, so his new owner must be one that will happily give us frequent updates and share pics/videos as he progresses in a new career!
Max is located in Harrisburg, PA at a private farm. His adoption fee is negotiable to the perfect adopter.
Max is the "unicorn" so many look for. Big, beautiful, sound, unraced, well bred, fancy mover, no quirks or issues.
We are so thankful that he came into our program as whatever is left over from his adoption fee (after giving his connections their portion), will go right into our Rescue to help PARR continue helping these OTTB's find new
homes and allow us to help even more kill-pen slaughter bound horses.

Important Note About Meeting / Trying PARR Horses
PARR horses are not in active programs, they are waiting for their new homes to start their new jobs. They are often ridden once for a video and hanging out in field, stall at track, or being turned out at a foster farm the remainder of days while they wait to be adopted. Therefore, we do not allow PARR horses to be tried(ridden) for the best interest of the horse and liability risks for the owners, connections, trainers, etc. If a horse is new off the track, we may only adopt to an experienced rider, or capable rider working with a trainer. They will need to return to a program typical of a horse that is either just off the track or getting back into shape, from the ground up with your training methods. Most live at private farms that do not have arenas/riding areas. If we are able to haul a horse over to an indoor ring for an under saddle video we will, but that is dependent on the horse, schedule of foster home, and availability of a facility with an arena or place to ride. Shipping into a farm costs ring fees and sometimes expecting to pull a horse out of a field, haul them to a new place, hop on and expect them to knock our socks off is a lot to ask of a horse....but some of them do just that and those are the ones that sell fast, especially to those looking for great show-prospects for themselves or to bring along and sell down the road as an investment project. We can set up
appointments for you to meet the horses, see them move freely (or jog in hand), and vettings are welcome.
